Free wedding gallery or paid upgrade: what do you actually need?

Published on Sept. 16, 2026

A free gallery is a useful starting point. A paid package makes sense when it solves a specific need, not simply because it has the longest feature list. Use this guide to decide what your wedding collection actually requires.

When staying free makes sense

If you first want to see how a guest scans a code and contributes a photo, you do not need to choose a paid event package yet. Foreverpix Free currently includes up to 50 photos without a credit card. A deliberately small collection may also fit within that allowance. Count the total photos in the gallery, not the number of people invited.

A feature you will not use is not a reason to pay more. If you do not want videos or extra event tools, leave them out of your decision. Keeping a free solution that meets your needs is a valid outcome, not an incomplete setup.

Write down five requirements

  • Collection: We expect roughly ___ photos, based on ___.
  • Video: We want guests to contribute clips: yes / no.
  • Availability: We want access to the gallery until ___.
  • Useful extras: We will actually use ___, such as a live photo wall or QR print design.
  • Backup: ___ will save the files; another copy will be kept ___.

Fill this in together. A feature marked “maybe” should not automatically decide the package. For a more explicit photo estimate, use our planning guide for weddings with 50, 100 or 200 guests.

Two worked examples

A small, selected collection: Ten contributors sending three favourite photos each would produce 30 photos. With no additional contributions, that fits within Free50. This is an illustration of your assumptions, not a forecast of what guests will upload.

More perspectives and some video: If you expect many more photos and also want clips, a photos-only package would not meet your needs even if its photo allowance were sufficient. Check the media allowance and video support together. A smaller wedding with enthusiastic contributors may need more capacity than a larger event collecting a short selection.

Compare the actual package differences

On the offer page checked on 16 September 2026, Lite includes up to 300 photos, no video and six months of availability. Plus includes up to 800 photos and videos combined, twelve months of availability, a live wall and QR print studio. Premium is offered with unlimited photos and videos and 24 months of availability. Paid packages are one-off purchases per event, not subscriptions.

These details describe the offer on the review date, not a price guarantee. Check the current packages and terms before paying, including the amount, currency, features and availability shown. A time-limited online gallery is not a replacement for your own archive.

Check the guest experience before paying

  1. Open your intended guest link rather than the host management screen.
  2. With their agreement, ask a second person to contribute a small test photo.
  3. Check that you can find the contribution and understand how to save your own photos.
  4. Match your written requirements to a package.

Start the upgrade from the gallery you already have; do not create another collection just to choose a package. Keep host credentials to yourself. Guests should receive the guest link instead.

Finish with a clear reason

Complete this sentence: “We chose this package because we need ___.” If the answer is only “just in case”, revisit the smaller option. If it is “video, enough media capacity and the right availability”, you have a concrete basis for the decision. More features do not guarantee more contributions; explaining the simple guest workflow still matters.
